In fact, they spent $8.7 billion on aesthetic plastic survey in the first half of 2021, according to new data from Aesthetic Society, an organization devoted entirely to aesthetic plastic surgery and cosmetic medicine of the face and body.The numberswhich come from Society members using theAesthetic Neural Network(ANN) data, powered by Ronan Solutionshint that 2021 may close the year in record-breaking revenues, according to the Society. In 2020, Americans spent over$6 billionon aesthetic surgical procedures and over$3 billionon nonsurgical aesthetic procedures."2021 was a unique year for our specialty given the COVID-19 pandemic and adjusting to the various changes it caused," saidWilliam P. Adams, Jr., MD, president of The Aesthetic Society. "Demand is stronger than ever and likely won't let up in the new year. Still, our members are an elite group using the safest, most advanced techniques. 2022 will give our membership even more opportunity to provide the safest care to the growing patient population."Blepharoplasty was the top surgical procedure among 5080-year-olds fromJanuary 2021-July 2021. Yet, Aesthetic Society member surgeons predict younger women pursuing eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty in 2022a possible effect of the virtual meeting boom.Aesthetic Society members project the ubiquity of virtual meetings will continue to motivate patients to seek facial procedures to resolve issues they may not have noticed before, seeking out surgical and nonsurgical skin treatments.The leading nonsurgical treatment in the first 6 months of 2021 were neurotoxin injections, making up 54.25% of the top five nonsurgical procedures.
